Apple Cider Braised Pork Shoulder

  • 3 pounds pork shoulder
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper, then brown it on all sides.
  3. Add onions and garlic; sauté until softened.
  4. Pour in apple cider and vinegar, and add thyme.
  5. Bring to a simmer, then cover and transfer to a preheated oven at 300°F.
  6. Braise for 3–4 hours until the pork is tender.
