- 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
- Add pumpkin puree, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix well.
- Gradually add the yeast mixture and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Let the dough rise for an hour, covered, until it doubles in size.
- Roll out the dough and cut into squares. Place in a greased baking dish.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before drizzling with icing.
