Potato and Sausage Chowder

This Potato and Sausage Chowder recipe is the perfect cozy dish for chilly evenings, combining rich flavors and heartiness in every bowl.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups diced potatoes
  • 1 pound sausage (Italian or your choice)
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, add onions and garlic, and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add diced potatoes and chicken broth to the pot, and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.
  5. Stir in the cooked sausage, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and thyme. Heat through.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a thicker chowder, use a potato masher to partially mash some of the potatoes.
  • Feel free to add vegetables such as corn or carrots for more flavor and nutrition.
